THIRD CONDITIONAL: IF + PAST PERFECT (had + past participle), WOULD + HAVE + PAST PARTICIPLE

* STUDENT'S BOOK. Pag. 84. 9A Lucky encounters
1 Reading & Speaking
a) 1- I would run along the street/ 2- I would stop and I would help him/
    3- I would shout help and I would say them to stop/ 4- I would let him get in front of me

b) We think that the inspector returns and if he doesn't cry he will drive to the hospital on his car him

d) 1- He had to run to platform 1/

e) - The episode "The students" it happened in Japan and the episode "The angel" it happened in
       Manchester/
    - In the episode "The students" the problem was that she doesn't have any possibility to change
      cash in local money because in Japan was a holiday and the episode "The angel" the trouble
      happened when they were going to tutor's house on their motorbike and they had run out of
      petrol/
   - In the episode "The students" they offered to take her around the city and look for somewhere
     where she was able to change his money and "The angel"'s episode the strange opened the boot of
     his car and took out a can of petrol and then opened the petrol tank of his motorbike and poured
     the petrol in

g) I think that the most surprising story is "The angel" because of the strange disappeared and he
    doesn't say any world at any time. The story most moving is "The students" because she after
    passed with the strangers and their friends for the evening

2 Grammar. Third conditional
a) 1- If the inspector hadn't stopped the train to Leeds, he would have missed his connection C/
    2- If the couple hadn't helped Karina she would have been alone without any money A/
    3- If the man in the car hadn't stopped they would have had to walk for miles in the cold B

 b) the really happened is the sentence 1, and the sentence 1 describes how the situation might have
     been different

+ Third conditional
- Usamos el tercer condicional para hechos que podrian haber sido diferentes en una situación
  en el pasado. Haciendo referencia a situaciones hipotéticas o imaginarias
Ej: Yesterday I got up late and missed my train / Me levanté tarde y perdí mi tren/ (hecho real)
      If I hadn't got up late yesterday, I wouldn't have missed my train
     / Si no me hubiera levantado tarde ayer, yo no deberia haber perdido mi tren/
     (imaginando o hipotetizando un hecho ya ocurrido)

- Para hacer el tercer condicional  
  IF+ PAST PERFECT (had+ verbo past participle) y 
   If I had known about the meeting,
                                                             WOULD (WOULDN'T) + HAVE + PAST PARTICIPLE
                                                           I would have gone

- La contracción de WOULD y HAD es 'd --- would --- 'd /  --- had --- 'd

- Podemos utilizar MIGHT ó COULD en lugar de WOULD para el resultado menos cierto
   Ej: If she'd studied harder, she might have passed the exam
